Siddiq Barmak is an Afghan film director, producer, and screenwriter. He was born on September 7, 1962, in Panjshir, Afghanistan. In 1987, he became a professional in the film industry through his education at the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK). Barmak has written several screenplays and directed several short films. His first film, the drama "Osama" about the Taliban rule ton Afghanistan, won the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Dialect Film in 2004. The film became a stylistic echo show consideration for the "Afghan" films of the Iranian Mahmahbaf dynasty - Mohsen Mahmahbaf and his daughter Samira Mahmahbaf (her film "At Pentad in the Afternoon").
Barmak achieved significant financing for his ep "Osama" and invited Mohsen Mahmahbaf as his assistant.
